HearBuilder® Phonological Awareness/Clark County Pilot
A study involving 68 preschool through fourth grade students in Clark County School District (Las Vegas, NV) found students with and without IEPs achieved statistically significant gains in phonological awareness skills after using HearBuilder Phonological Awareness.
Participating students:
  • Used the software for 60 minutes per week for a minimum of eight weeks
  • Were assessed using Section 1: Phonological Awareness and Flexibility of the Emerging Literacy and Language Assessment® (ELLA®)
  • Showed statistically significant improvement (p <.001) in their pre and post scores
  • Had an average raw score increase of 30 points
The speech-language pathologists overseeing the pilot were asked to complete a survey at the end of the study; all of the responding SLPs reported that the software was easy to use and that they would recommend it to a colleague.
